Last Skins game, SATURDAY Aug 12:

We had 20 players, thank you for participating. Due to a family situation I did not get this done until Sunday night, I will get you all paid this week. $400 pot with 1/3 of the pot going to each of the 3 games.

Gross: 5 skins – Bukowski: R2, W5 ($54). RT: R6 ($27). Harker:  W2 ($27). Ingoglia: W3 ($27)

Net: 4 skins – Bartley: R5 ($33). Harker W2 ($33). Bukowski W5 ($33). Jancosek W7 ($33)

One Side note: Had this week been only a single game of full handicap half dot game I normally run, the same people would have won (on exactly the same holes), but Ed would have won 2 skins ($114), and the rest 1 skin ($57 each), so not wildly different, but much more straight-forward.

Of the NET skins above you can see that only 3 also stood in the validate pool:
Bartley R5 (with net birdie on R6), Harker W2 (with par on W3), Jancosek 3 or W7, (net birdie on W8). Sadly, Bukowski made bogey on W6 after birdie on W5.

 

Play Blue, Powers, or White tees, just let me know and I handicap accordingly.

Open only to members playing Course 1 in the morning groups of: Eddie Bu, Swac, Galway, Izzo, Ingoglia
  • Hole out everything for NET par or better (even if it is a 1 inch putt).
  • Play whatever tees you want, indicate on your card WHICH tees each player played with a B, P, or W (no other tees)
  • Submit GROSS scores only, and with names, not initials please.
  • Open to the following groups playing course 2: Eddie Bu, SWAC, Galway, Ingoglia, Izzo, members only.
  • If you say you are in, once you hit your first tee shot, you are in regardless of what happens next.
  • For these, we need at least 16 players.

Scoring done in the MENS LOUNGE. I will have someone reading scores to me so there is no mix-up…

The Games:

  • Validate is full handicap, but if you make a skin, your next hole must be net par or better to keep your skin! For reference, if we would have had validation on July 9, with a field of 35, we would have had ONE validated net skin, and it would gone to Eddie Bu (BLue 8 Net 2). There were 4 net skins that would NOT have been validated by Evanson (B1 net 2), Heaney (B6 net 3), Zoran (White 9 net 3), Mateja (White 8 net 2).
  • Gross is simple gross skins, no handicap
  • Net is simple NET skins, full handicap
  • The pot will be split evenly 3 ways, Validate, Gross, Net. In the case that there is no skin in one or two of the games, the pot will be split among the games that have skins. If all 3 games have no skins (probably less likely than getting bitten by a land shark on Blue 7), entry fees returned.

Entry Fee – $20, lots of ways to pay:

  • I will leave a bag in the pro-shop, SATURDAY morning before you tee off, you can CLEARLY write your uniquely identifiable name on a twenty dollar bill (exact change required, 20s only), and they will put it in there for me. Do NOT ask them for change, or put a 100 in and ask for 4 twenties, ONLY twenties to enter and your name written on the twenty.

  • Pay me in person with CASH with a $20 bill before I tee off at 7am.
  • You or your group leader commit via text to me who us in before you tee off and pay after in the men’s lounge, no undo’s once they tee off.

Rules common to all skins games:

  • Hole out EVERYTHING for NET PAR OR BETTER
  • You may withdraw only if you communicate to me clearly VIA TEXT that you are out prior to your first shot (I need the timeline and evidence in case anyone questions it), or if you no show completely.
  • If you tell me you are in, you are in. If you hit even 1 shot, you may not get out.
  • Weather.
    • Play forced to stop for less than 60 minutes: If play is forced to stop (not if you just decide to stop playing because it is raining a bit, etc., but if we are not allowed to play), the game will continue after the delay even if CPO. If concerned about rain delays or possible CPO after a rain delay, please do not enter.
    • If play is forced to stop for more than 60 minutes, the number of holes used for skins will be the last hole that the last team was reasonably able to complete. At least 9 holes must be reasonably able to be completed by all entrants for there to be a game. Should the entire field agree to continue, the game can continue, but it is not reasonable to expect someone to have to continue after a more than 60 minute delay.

July 9, 2023 – half dot

Larry Tully was gentlemanly enough to point out that his scores appeared to be flipped on the 9s. Below I am posting the haf-dot scores followed by the raw scores. I still have all the cards but just reviewed them twice more. I have learned a lesson, I need to get 1 person to help me to read in all the scores, and then do a sanity check on them once entered.

The basics: $20 per man. Pick the tees you want to play, play hard, hole out ALL pars or better, and you get half a dot on everywhere you stroke.

The details: I calculate your 100% playing handicap from the tees you choose to play (Blue, Powers, White, and Gold for age+index of 90 or more), and for every hole you would receive a stroke, you get half a dot on that hole. This way the natural birdie by a player NOT stroking doesn’t get cut by the par of a player with 1 stroke, but still wins a skin with a tie plus half dot. If there are any 19+ HCs, on the holes they would get two strokes, they get 2 half-dots.

HOLE IT OUT for par or better

If it is on the card for par or better, it needs to hit the bottom of the hole.

 

Next game: either w/e of July 29/30 or w/e of Aug 12/13 (Aug 5th is pick and play and Cory will probably run a game that day).
Format: VALIDATE:
Full handicap, full strokes, but if you win a skin, your next hole MUST be a net par or better. If you win one on 18, we use 1 as your validate hole.
