NOT A BRCC EVENT – this is a Marty/Joe/Patrick event
20 PLAYING handicap limit (see rule 2 below), not 20 index.

16 of the most elite loser teams ($100 per man) will be invited to make up the bracket. There is 100% payout, single elimination 2-man event. Same format as the one you got knocked out of, but you will be playing against other losers so it might not be as hard to win. Payout per team (not per person, based on 32 participants) in the money is as follows:

1st: $2000         2nd: $800          3rd/4th:  $200

Play may begin as soon as 16 teams fill the bracket and are drawn to random seeds, probably very early June. Please note the BRCC events that will conflict with scheduling your loser match:

Due to entrants not being finalized until later than expected, we MAY need to slip these dates SLIGHTLY but would REALLY like to make these happen.

  • Round 1 completed
  • Round 2, play by Aug 22 (BRCC events on July 27-28, Aug 3, Aug 16-17)
  • Round 3, play by Sep 26 (BRCC events on Aug 31-Sep2, Sep 21-22)
  • Last 2 teams standing, play by Oct 20

ENTRY FEE: $100 per player ($200 per team)

RULES:

Please do not involve the pro shop. They should not be inconvenienced, this is not their event, and last there was an incorrect answer given  because they did not know our rules. When pairings are up, I will send email to each team pair with information.

  1. Use your common sense, good judgement, and sense of fair play and good sportsmanship. You may, if both teams agree, resolve any issue as you wish. However, these are the rules if there are any disagreements on an issue that can’t be resolved unanimously. This is not a BRCC event, this is a Marty/Joe/Patrick event (at this point). DO NOT involve the pro staff.
  2. PLAYING HANDICAP (not index) LIMIT of 20: 20 is the playing handicap limit regardless of the low man. Example:
    – A 19.2 index has a 22 playing HC on R/W, but 20 is the max for any player.
    – The low man of a group is a 3.2 index and has a 3 playing HC on R/W
    – The 19.2 will get 17 strokes (20 – 3 = 17), he will NOT get 19 (22-3).
  3. Best 1 of 2 net balls for each team (four ball is the name of the format, just like 2-man you were eliminated from)
  4. All USGA rules apply. OB and Lost Ball are stroke and distance (get a caddie…)
  5. Agree to an available date, time, and rotation with your opponents and book it as far in advance as possible. If there is more than 1 rotation available at that time and you don’t agree, let me know. The rotation played MUST be the one originally booked, unless the pro-shop forces you to play another, or all 4 of you mutually agree to change it. I strongly suggest avoiding ending on BLUE 9 due the #1 and #2 stroked indexes being on 8 and 9.
  6. WHITE TEES. Use your current indexes and the CDGA app to determine your playing HC for the day and rotation. Both teams agree to the strokes given (play off the low man) and mark cards and make sure they agree before the first hole. The card is binding once agreed to and the first shot has been played.
  7. Matches MUST be completed by the deadline or the result will be a coin-flip. No refunds will be given (even in the first round), as it is not fair to the rest of the field to shorten the available time frame to play the next round.
  8. Seeds will be drawn live in the men’s lounge, once we have filled all 16 teams.  If we do not fill 16 teams from round 1 losers, we will find some early round 2 losers to play.

Rules when something goes completely sideways (uncommon)

  1. CPO: Matches will be played in CPO unless both teams agree to reschedule (risking a coin-flip if they cannot complete on time)
  2. If there is a dispute about strokes given and allocation once the round starts and there is not unanimous agreement, no remedy can be sought for number of strokes given or stroke allocation, and the cards as marked and agreed to before the round stand.
  3. Delayed or postponed matches: In the event of a delay lasting longer than 1 hour between stoppage of play and the all clear from the shop to resume play, no player shall be expected to continue. Less than 1 hour delay, you are expected to continue. Again, unless otherwise mutually agreed.
  4. 12 holes will be considered a complete match in the case that play is stopped by the pro staff.
  5. If you have a dispute, this is NOT a BRCC event. Treat it as you normally would on a weekend scotch game. Feel free to call the pros with a question, but they are NOT obligated and should not be expected to give you a ruling. Play 2 balls if need be (always the furthest away first) and it can get resolved later.
  6. TIE BREAK PROCEDURE: Ties after 18 are resolved as follows:
    1. Tie breaking will be sudden death.
    2. If you cannot continue due to the course being closed for darkness or conditions, you will need to break the tie before the deadline.
    3. IF ALLOWED BY THE PRO-SHOP, play starting at hole 1 of the 18 holes just played, using the same dots as in the match.
    4. If this is NOT possible, and they need to start you on a different 9, Get your HC for the 18 rotation as follows (red/white for red, white/blue for white, blue/red for blue) and proceed playing until the tie is broken. If there is another tie after 9, continue on the rotation you started, if you cannot continue on the rotation you started, repeat the TIE BREAK PROCEDURE.

Here it is boys, set up your matches!
